Lois DeRose

Lois DeRose, 89, of Hallstead, PA was reunited with her beloved husband of 60 years, Percy “Hank” DeRose, and her companion dog, Benji on October 22, 2024 at home with her loving family by her side. Percy predeceased her on April 8, 2014; also by her parents Walter and Elva DeRose; her son, Ronald DeRose; grandchildren, Walter DeRose, Amber Lynn Heron, and Crystal DeRose; her siblings, Herb DeRose, Hank DeRose, Marion Miller, Dot Marion, Eve Blamey, Marge Matthews, Bob DeRose, and Ernie DeRose; a sister-in-law and best friend, Shirley Reiley; all of her sisters-in-law and all of her brothers-in-law; and another best friend, Margo Frisbie. Lois is survived by her daughters, Donna Darrow and Lisa (Vincent) Heron; her grandchildren, Carrie Ladner, Dakota Shafer, Samantha Dietz, Angela (Brett) Landis, Piper Landis, Phoebe Landis, Pamela DeRose, Aurora Branning, Aryanna Austin, Brianna Heron, Cheyanne Heron, and Kay (Tyler Coleman) Heron; a great grandson, Micah Banks; her daughter-in-law, Herminia Quitalig several nieces and nephews; special friends and extended family, including Bill and Lisa, and Molly McVaugh. Lois was the last surviving of her generation, out living all her siblings and their spouses, proving to be an emotional challenge for her. She was an avid reader. Lois was an avid Gibbs enthusiast and perpetually watched NCIS. She was talented with crafts, and crocheted many items and taught her grandchildren to crochet also. Lois made paper dolls and all the outfits and their accessories. She sewed Barbie Doll and baby doll clothes that made all of her daughters’ friends jealous of them having the most fashionable, best dressed dolls. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Personal Home Health and Hospice Care, Kristen, Courtney, and Tonya and especially to Dr. Francis Schell for their care and the Rodney Dangerfield jokes. Following her wishes, there will be no public services. Private inurnment will be made in Brookdale Cemetery at a later date.
