Elfrieda U. Lee

Elfrieda Stone Lee, 96, of Susquehanna, PA slipped away to the hands of God on September 1, 2022. Born, one of ten children in 1926, to LeRoy and Florence LaPlace Stone in Ararat, PA. From a one room schoolhouse, to graduating high school at Thompson High, she found employment with Robinson Enterprises of Binghamton, NY until 1955 when she married the love of her life, the late Cornelius J. Lee. Elfrieda is survived by a brother, David E. Stone, Binghamton, NY; son, Ronald J. Lee and wife Dorinna Lee, New Milford, PA; daughter, Rita Price, Susquehanna, PA; granddaughters, Melissa, Hannah, and Claressa; great grandchildren, Ray and Owen; many nieces, nephews, and their continuous families; close special family like friends include: Flo Payne, Ruth Price, Tina Graham, and LuLu Irwin. Elfrieda was a devout Catholic and had a love of family, Christmas, flowers, embroidery, and baking. With the later getting her a position at the Barnes-Kasson Hospital dietary department until her retirement in 1991. Following her retirement, she kept herself busy with family, friends, and assisting the needy with sewing or baked goods. Her specialty was banana bread. Christmas time was her favorite season, giving her the opportunity to display her vintage ornaments and decorations and tell folks their stories. Late in life, severe arthritis limited her abilities, but not her spirit. Occasional afternoon trips with David around the lands of their youth, reminiscing with family and friends, time with her special gal-pals, and as always, hair on Fridays occupied her time. Elfrieda’s love, humor, and pioneer fortitude will be sadly missed by all. There will be a viewing at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA on Monday, September 5, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Great Bend, PA with the interment to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Susquehanna, PA. In lieu of flowers, she requested folks help the needy or donate to their own favorite charitable cause.
