Curtis D. Decker

Curt Decker, 70, of Hallstead Pa. was called home on Christmas Eve night after battling Liver Cancer for 6 months. He was surrounded by his loving family, including his wife Lee of 50 years. He was predeceased by his mom and dad, Charles Decker and Maryhelen (Franks) Decker. He was also predeceased by his in-laws, Jim and Lorraine Lewis. He is survived by his 2 daughters Danielle (Sean) Mills and Kristine (Sean) Morris. Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren. Curtis (Jenna) Mills, Jarred Mills, Isabelle Morris, Connor Mills, Ryan Mills and Jake Morris. Surviving also, are his 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Gary (Susie) Decker, Joni (Randy) Estabrook, Julie (Joe) Bennett, Tim (Connie) Decker, Mike (Deke) and (Trish)Decker, Mary Jane (David) Zurn, Bill (Lisa) Decker and Lisa (Joe) Sarrantonio. Also, a sister in-law Lynn Stockholm and many nieces and nephews. Also, his 8 grand dogs and 1 grand Cat. He was always referred to as the dog whisper. One time Curt was asked, what makes you happy? He replied, my grandchildren. Curt worked for the D&H Railroad for 15 years. After being disabled he went on to manage the Bar/restaurant at the CPC in Conklin. From there he opened and operated his own bar (East Side Tavern) in Binghamton, NY. He retired in 2012. Curt was an avid sportsman in his younger years. His favorite was baseball, where he held the batting average for more than 25 years at Blue Ridge and all Susq. County. He was scouted by a farm team of the Chicago Cubs, but blew out his knee as a senior and couldn’t continue. He also loved basketball, bowling, golfing, and hunting. He was a very generous man, esp. with his children and grandchildren. He loved socializing and was a great friend to most, some of whom are waiting on the other side for him. He really just enjoyed being with family. He was truly blessed. A memorial viewing will be held at Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. in Hallstead from 11 to 1 on SUNDAY, January 5, 2024 and a memorial mass at 1:30 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, in Great Bend.
