Walter John Raymond

WALTER JOHN RAYMOND Walter John Raymond, 75, formerly of Newark Valley, NY, passed away on December 12, 2020 from chronic kidney failure. He is the son of the late Wilfred and Ernestine Raymond. Walt is survived by his sister, Sally (Earl) Spencer; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara, and a brother, “Sunny” Wilfred Jr. Walt was an avid collector of historic memorabilia. He was an active participant of Civil War and Cowboy reenactments. Walt was a care taker of horses and worked on several farms over the years. He proudly served with the NY National Guard from 1981-2002. Walt was called to help with the aftermath of 9-11 and received a letter of appreciation for his support of the World Trade Center Tragedy recovery “Noble Eagle.” He returned, but was never the same. A true lover of history, he always said he was born 200 years after he was supposed to be. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
