    Lester Charles Hall, Sr.

    March 18, 1933 - June 22, 2016

Lester C. Hall, Sr., 83, dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on June 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents Elmer Joseph Hall and Guelda Ruth (Stuart) Hall and a sister Leona Ruth and her husband William Tennant, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Emma Jean (Tompkins) Hall, and 5 children - Lally Snell (and Keith), Lester Charles Hall, Jr. (and Marion), Nancy Rood (and Charles), Penny Kleiner (and Sanford), and Michael Hall (and Sherry). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren - Daniel, Lindsay, Jason, Derrek, Megan, Corey, Kelsey, Mikey, Sierra, Kate, Caroline, Brandon - and 6 great grandchildren - Caleb, Isaac, Ben, Emma, Cooper, Ryker - and beloved dogs Snickers and Snuggles. Lester retired from IBM - Endicott after 27 years of service. He was also a farmer-at-heart, working the family farm, first with his father and later two sons. He was very proud of his military service from 1953-55 - U.S. Army Headquarters & Service Company, 54th Engineer Bn. (Combat), Leipheim, Germany, where he made lifetime friends - Clint, Wes, Howard, Louis, Erwin, Chet, Myron, Gerald, Sarge and 4 predeceased - Joe T., Charles, Wally, and Norm. In recent years, the army buddies and their spouses held annual reunions to stay in touch. Lester married his childhood sweetheart, Emma, June 20, 1953, and they had 63 wonderful years together. Their greatest joys were found in the simple pleasures of life - sharing a cup of tea, family dinners around the table, flea market adventures, Gator rides to the woods, evening rides through the countryside to check on family, friends, and wildlife. They were the greatest example of love, and the glue that sticks a family together. They knew how to love and how to show it - a kind deed, a phone call, a helping hand. Lester will be greatly missed, but the many joyful memories will carry us through, his greatest joy was his family. At Lester's request, there will be no public services. A private memorial service will be held at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Sportsmen’s Club, 2019 East Lake Road, New Milford, PA 18834.
