Rev. Dr. James C. Valentine Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rev. Dr. James C. Valentine, age 77, passed into glory on February 23, 2021. James was born on May 23, 1943, son of the late Morris J. and Beatrice M. (Very) Valentine. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and John Valentine. James graduated from Union College and Ohio Theological Seminary. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Ministry from Drew University. James met the love of his life, Vickie L. Gatton at college. They celebrated 56 years of marriage. Together they served the Lord in the United Methodist Church for over 40 years before his retirement. James was an active member of his community where he served in the local food pantry. James was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and relaxing at the lake. Treating his family to ice cream was a particular joy. His shining stars were his sons. James was a loving and devoted father to Clifford J. Valentine (Christine) of Dunmore, PA and Cory J. Valentine (Wendy) of Hallstead, PA. James was adored by his 6 grandchildren, Isaac, Esther, Gayle, Elijah, Ella, and Asher Valentine. They will deeply miss their “Poppy.” A Memorial service will be held at 2 pm on February 27, 2021 at the United Methodist Community Church, Great Bend, PA listen to FM radio station 105.1 from the parking lot or live stream on Facebook on the United Methodist Community Church’s page, with the Rev. Doug Sivers officiating. The church sanctuary is reserved for the immediate family due to COVID restrictions. Burial will be private. Please sign the guestbook at www.tuttleyeisleyfuneralhome.com.
