GERALD E. WILMOT March 28, 1926-March 22, 2016 Gerald E. Wilmot, 89, of So. Pasadena, FL passed away on March 22, 2016. He was born in Hallstead, PA March 28, 1926 to the late George W. and Grace (Flint) Wilmot. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Alice (Haskins) Wilmot, So. Pasadena, FL; daughter, Bonnie (Butch) Roe; a son, George A. Wilmot, New Milford, PA; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jennifer Heister) Roe, Blandon PA, Kevin Roe and Melody Pitonyak, Whitehall, PA, Steven (Andrea Malik) Roe, Atlanta, GA, Adam, Austin and Olivia Wilmot, all of Windsor, NY; four great grandchildren, Zachary Althouse, CA, Aidan Roe, Blandon, PA, Dylan and Cole Roe, Atlanta, GA; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother, George; four sisters, Ruth Button Smith, Eva Walker, Ethel LaPear Stinard, and Mildred Farr. As a World War II veteran, he served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant in a tank battalion in Italy. He was a self employed contractor, building and remodeling several lovely homes and buildings in the area and also had a floor covering business. Jerry was a lifetime member of the Great Bend VFW and the American Legion, Hallstead, PA. He was a member of the Great Bend Fire Department; past president of the Great Bend/Hallstead Lions Club; Past Master of the East Great Bend Grange; former manager/secretary/treasurer of Great Bend Borough. Jerry and Alice owned and managed “Alyce’s Tea Cup” and the “Endless Mountains Antique Center” in Great Bend, PA for many years. He could be found for several years in the antique building and officially weighing horses and tractors at the Harford Fair. He owned and enjoyed horses on their Windsor, NY farm. After spending many winters in FL., they move to Seminole, FL in 1988. As a hobby, he designed several beautiful stained glass pieces that will be forever cherished by family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hallstead, PA with Reverend Jane Pykus, of the First United Methodist Church, New Milford, PA officiating.
