Gerald (Bayde) T. Caffrey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gerald (Bayde) T. Caffrey, 87, of Hallstead, PA, passed away December 4, 2021, at Barnes Kasson SNF following a period of declining health. He was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Maretta; brother, Jerome; and sister, Mary Reardon. Gerald is survived by his loving wife and best friend Phyllis; children, Mary Caffrey, Thomas and Ellen Caffrey, Gerald and Christina Caffrey; mother of his children, Kathleen Caffrey; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ryan Rouse, Amanda Pisani, Nick Pisani, Julia, Ryan, and Katie Caffrey, Erin and Emma Caffrey. Jerry is also survived by Phyllis’ children who thought the world of him: Rebecca and David Williams, Jeffrey and Ellen Brown; grandchildren, Megan and Mitch Less, Jessica and Jason Zawisky, JJ and Kate Brown, and Zachary and Jackie Brown. He enjoyed twelve great-grandchildren who loved and were loved by their Poppy. Also surviving are nieces and nephews Mary Kay Reardon, Jerome and Cindy Reardon, and Jim and Jean Reardon. He graduated from Laurel Hill Academy, Susquehanna, PA, St. Bonaventure University, and served in the US Army in Okinawa for two years. Following retirement from IBM, he drove Barnes Kasson vans for eleven years, and worked as a starter at Conklin Players club for many seasons. As a member of Saint John’s Men’s Club, Jerry knew that he had a community of brothers, a constant joy in his life. In addition to the Men’s Club, and his friends and family, he had a passion for the NY Giants, NY Yankees, Golf, and especially being Irish! Thanks to Dr. B. Patel, the staff on second floor and SNF, Barnes Kasson Hospital for their caring expertise. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Susquehanna PA. Interment will be made in St. John’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
