Emma Jean Hall (1935-2022) Our beloved Mother, Emma Jean (Tompkins) Hall, departed this earth surrounded by family on May 23rd, 2022 after a few days at Meadow View nursing home in Montrose, PA. Emma was predeceased by her life-long love and husband, Lester Charles Hall, Sr. (“Jim”), in 2016, her parents (Clair and Anna May (Richardson) Tompkins), and all of her siblings (Kenneth, John, Mitchell, Arnold, Anna, Betty, Tracy, Ruth, Eloise). Her dearest friend and sister-in-law, Joan Tompkins, wife of brother Tracy, passed away just a week prior. Emma is survived by her five children, Lally Snell (Keith), Lester Hall, Jr. (Marion), Nancy Rood (Chuck), Penny Kleiner (Sanford), and Michael Hall (Sherry). Emma was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren - Daniel (Curry) Snell & Isaac; Lindsay (Joe) Quatrone & Caleb, Ben; Jason (Amanda) Hall & Cooper, Emma; Derrek (Heather) Hall & Abel, Ryker, Hadlee; Katelyn Sherman (Jared); Megan (Josh) Thornton; Kelsey Kleiner; Corey Kleiner; Michael Robbs; Sierra Hall; Caroline (Jack) Allen; Brandon Bartkus. Emma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the “Hostess with the Mostest”, queen of coffee breaks, Sunday dinners, and cook/baker extraordinaire. It was nothing for her to prepare a meal for 30+ people on any given Sunday or holiday. “There’s always room for one more” she’d say and easily add a plate for beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will always be remembered for her famous homemade sugar cookies with 3 raisins on top. Emma loved the simple things in life – a dirt road ride, a good yard sale or flea market, collecting beautiful dishes and glassware, tea parties with her girls using all of her finery, fishing on the dock with Jim, hanging out the laundry even in the dead of winter, watching the boys farm the fields with their Dad, a good game of Chinese Checkers, and making everyone in the family a homemade birthday cake, every year, completely decorated including glowing candles. Her generosity of time, lending a helping hand, and thoughtful deeds to so many in her life will never be forgotten. Emma’s kind heart was loving in every way. She especially loved her friends in the Army Buddy Group and treasured the memories of reunions she and Jim shared with them. Even after he passed, Emma remained close to these dear friends. Special, heart-felt thanks to caregivers, Brittany, Stephanie, Carrie, and Briana, who all helped us keep Mom in her own home until the last few days of her life. Your love and support will always be remembered. Emma will be greatly missed but the memories of a wonderful life together will remain with us always. At Emma’s request, there will be no public services. A private memorial service will be held where she will be placed to rest next to her “Jim” in the East Lake Farm Memorial Garden, a private cemetery on the family farm.
