Beverly F. Updyke Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Beverly Updyke, 87, of New Milford, PA passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022 after gathering her large and loving family around her one last time. She joins her beloved husband of 60 years, Howard Updyke, who passed away in 2015, and their reunion is surely a sweet one. Beverly grew up in Courtdale, PA with her family on the hill. She worked for a time, then followed Howard to Virginia when he was drafted into the Navy. They knew each other nearly their entire lives, and it didn’t take long to decide they would build a life together. Beverly and Howard had four children and settled in New Milford, where Beverly was a homemaker and Howard joined the partnership Davidson, Buccasio and Updyke (now Davidson, Fox and Co.), a well respected accounting firm with multiple offices throughout New York. Beverly was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, New Milford, PA. She also dedicated many years to the Pratt Memorial Library and Friends of Susquehanna County. Beverly and Howard were fortunate to have travelled the whole world (except Australia, much to her chagrin), but were never happier than at their home with their family. Beverly was always busy preparing a meal for the family, working in the yard, taking care of the kids or grandkids, reading, or puttering with something. She was an elegant, smart, feisty, fun, down to earth woman. She was a force. Her light in this world and in this family will be missed. Beverly is survived by her four children, Karen Franks, Howard and Audrey Updyke Jr., Scott and Elizabeth Updyke, and Kristin and Matthew Bossard; eleven grandchildren, Meaghan Franks, Jessica and Jeremy Page, Katelyn and David Stalker, Lindsay and Logan Goff, Morgan Updyke, Jared Updyke, Ben and Maria Fisher, Will Fisher, Luke Updyke, Kaylah Bossard, and Ashlyn Bossard; ten great grandchildren, Rebecca Fisher, Jacob Page, Noah Stalker, Robin Fisher, Aurora Stalker, Samuel Page, Ava Page, Rowen Fisher, Rose Fisher, and Richard Fisher; a brother-in-law, Edward Updyke; a sister-in-law; and a niece and nephew. The family wishes to express gratitude to special friend and caregiver, Judy Haley and hospice nurse Linda Mills, for the gift of a peaceful transition. In respect of Beverly’s wishes, the family will gather for a celebration of her life privately.
