Constance "Connie" Ruth Cook Barnes

CONSTANCE “CONNIE” COOK BARNES Connie, much loved daughter, mother, granddaughter, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, and friend went home to find comfort and rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 19, 2022. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Houghton College, following in the footsteps of her maternal grandfather and her mother. Connie was predeceased by her paternal and maternal grandparents; her beloved dad and mom, Irwin and Jessie (Mosher) Cook; her infant daughter, Joy; all of her cherished aunts and uncles; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and cousins. Connie leaves behind a large and loving family, including her brothers, Richard (Audrey) Cook, Gerald (Susan) Cook, and Daniel (Mary Kay) Cook. She was a stay-at-home mother and leaves behind her five children, Matthew Barnes, Sarah (Gary Jr.) Stumbo, Pastor Andrew (Jennifer) Barnes, Hannah (Christopher) Taylor, and Luke Barnes. Grandma Connie also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Rev. Joshua (Jamie) Stumbo, Pastor Cody (Abigail) Tyler, Elizabeth Barnes and her fiancé Justin Belvedere, Rylee Taylor, Colt Barnes, Clint Barnes, Leah Taylor, and Sophie Barnes. As well as her much anticipated great granddaughter, Juliana Noelle Stumbo, due to arrive in December. Connie also leaves behind several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, dozens of nieces and nephews, as well as friends whom she loved and cherished. Connie was devoted to her faith and her family despite long and ongoing battles with mental illness and eventually Parkinson’s Disease, which enacted great tolls on both her body and spirit. The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses, and caregivers that made it possible for her to live her life to the fullest. Her family and friends will remember a kind and loving woman, who watched the Weather Channel, listened to WPEL, enjoyed knitting (especially mittens and baby booties), writing letters, and baking treats to share. Ecclesiastes 7:1 A good name is better than fine perfume and the day of one’s death is better than the day of one’s birth. Connie leaves earth with a good name. At the time of her death, she became whole and healed. Her struggles and suffering are over and she is resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father. A private interment was held in Lakeview Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the West Windsor Baptist Church, Windsor, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 5 Chestnut Street, Montrose, PA or to Mircales4Mandy, 414 Church Street, New Milford, PA 18834 which is dedicated to finding a cure for alternating hemiplegia of childhood.
