"Bunny" Darlene Elizabeth Hinkley

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” – Psalm 116:15 Darlene Elizabeth (Bunny) Hinkley, 86, of New Milford, PA passed away peacefully February 1, 2023 at home with her devoted daughters by her side after battling Alzheimer’s for 14 years. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jerry, in 1991 after 35 years of marriage, father Lloyd Wilder in 1994, and mother Bee Wilder in 1996. Bunny is survived by her daughter and primary caregiver, Kim, daughter Jill (Reed) Mullen, two special grandsons Brett (Nicole) Mullen, Michael (Katie) Mullen, four great-grandchildren, Nora, Blake, Mandy, Lily, a special brother-in-law Richard (Lily) Hinkley, cousins, and special friends Louise, Fran, Shirley, Cherie, and a helpful neighbor Richie. As an only child, Bunny was a devoted daughter caring for her mother who had muscular dystrophy for 50 years. She enjoyed being a full-time homemaker and was happiest when surrounded by her daughters and family who brought her so much joy. She would always find ways to gather around the dining room table for family celebrations; her lasagna and ice cream cake roll will be missed. Her home and holidays hold wonderful memories. She enjoyed baking, cooking, knitting, shopping, board games, puzzles, watching hummingbirds, bus trips, listening to WPEL, and cheering and supporting her grandson’s baseball and basketball games. Bunny was an avid Yankees fan. She would always find time for a game of aggravation with family and friends. She never lost her beautiful smile, and continued to enjoy holding her loved one’s hands. Bunny leaves behind beautiful memories and a legacy of love. She will be missed very much. Bunny had a deep faith in the Lord Jesus, trusting in Him as her Lord and Savior. She attended South New Milford Baptist Church. Found in her Bible: “Yesterday God helped me. Today He’ll do the same. How long will this continue? Forever – praise His name!” The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Francis Schell, Faith, Elinore and Diane for their friendship and caregiving during Bunny’s last 3½ years of her life. A private graveside service for the family will be held at the New Milford Cemetery.
