Arnold James Colwell

Surrounded by his loving family, Arnold James Colwell was called home to the Lord on Sunday February 22, 2026. Born on June 12,1940 to the late Robert G. and Anna A. Colwell, Arnold was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Having met on a blind date, Arnold married Jane M. Stoffel, and shared 64 years of happy marriage with his “Babe.” Together they raised three children, Donna (Jim) Walker, Richard (Mary) Colwell, and Mark (Terri) Colwell. Family was very important to Arnold. He was a wonderful grandfather to Daniel (Peggy) Walker, Denise (Brandon) Sarday, Curtis Walker, Christie (Jon) Liuzzo, Cassandra Colwell, Clair (David) Breese, Megan (Stephen) Dingfelder, and Darci Nelsen. Arnold was further blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, Hailey, Natalie, Colin and Caden Sarday, Jonathan and Chelsea Liuzzo, Judy and Reba Walker, Hudson and Parker Dingfelder, and Patrick Breese. He was Uncle Arnold to several special nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his parents and his siblings: Ralph, Richard, Arlyn, Ronnie, Kenneth, Gerald, Leslie, Merle, Howard, Florence, Dorothy, Roberta, and Fern. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Shirley (Arlyn) Colwell, Jean (Merle) Colwell and Florence (Howard) Colwell, along with Frances (Neal) Owings. Arnold joined the Army and was promoted to Sergeant within 18 months. He spent 13 months stationed in Korea: Company H, First Platoon, and then with the Far East 304 Signal Battalion in Seoul. He received an honorable discharge in 1961. Early on Arnold and Jane ran a dairy farm, transitioning later to raising holstein heifers for a number of years. He later joined the carpenter’s union and worked as a carpenter for many years. He lovingly put his carpentry skills to work at home building cradles and rocking horses for his grandchildren, hope chests for all the girls in the family, tilt-top tables and many other woodworking projects. Arnold and Jane enjoyed traveling and took trips to Branson, New Orleans, Savannah and Nova Scotia after his retirement, along with many trips to the Lancaster area. Calling hours for Arnold will be 10 am to noon on Saturday, February 28, 2026, followed by a funeral service at noon, both at Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home Inc. in Hallstead, PA. Burial will be at a later date at Lamb’s Cemetery in Jackson, PA.
